This is carved on to a Persimmons wood slice. It is a very unique type of wood. The bark is almost like lumps of charcoal layers and has reddish brown rings showing when cut at an angle such as this piece. When first cut it has a creamy white look to the wood. As it dries it starts showing blacks and an aged brown. The result as you can see makes it have a natural old fashion look to it. There is a hand painted heart inside the paw print. This same carve can be done on other types of wood.
